Melissa Tayree-Marshall, LCPC, PhD
Dr. Marshall is a licensed clinical professional counselor, a CCE Approved Clinical Supervisor, and board approved supervisor in the state of Maryland. She is a second career therapist who entered the counseling field after observing and experiencing the healing metamorphosis of her father, a Vietnam Veteran, who attended group and individual therapy.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Gender Studies and English from Towson University. She continued her academic pursuits at Towson, where she was awarded a master’s degree in Human Resources. Later, she obtained a doctoral degree in Organizational/Industrial Psychology from Capella University. After several years working as a consultant and an entrepreneur, she completed post-doctoral studies and training in Counseling Psychology at Loyola University Maryland. She is currently completing studies at National University and the Colorado School for Family Therapy, as she is presently completing the process to become an AAMFT Supervisor.
In addition to the academic training, she is also a Certified Grief Specialist and a Certified Trauma Specialist. She has also completed the Gottman Training, Levels I and II, the Prepare to Enrich Training and is trained in Imago Couples Therapy. She is also trained in Sandplay therapy and maternal mental health. She is certified to use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to help individuals learn more about themselves and how they function in their personal and professional life.
When she is treating individual clients, couples and families, she incorporates different facets of her training and education to meet clients individual needs and help them understand how their experiences have impacted them, the relationship with themselves and how they are functioning in the world. She also facilitates community based and organizational workshops to enhance emotional well being.
As a clinical supervisor, she uses systemic theory to help interns and graduate level clinicians hone their clinical skills by helping them assess their perspectives of clients, develop sound, relevant treatment plans, and provide competent treatment. She encourages, supports, educates and prepares her supervisee's for treating clients with different presenting problems.
She is the owner of a private practice and the co-owner of Behavioral Health Pathways (www.behavioralhealthpathway.us), a interdisciplinary group practice.
